Lamayuru Darcha Trek

Day 01: Drive Leh – Alchi – Lamayuru – Kanji (170km)
Today you have amazing and spectacular view of mountains and confluence of Zanskar and Indus River, beautiful villages Morning after breakfast, drive on Leh-Srinagar highway to Lamayuru, en-route visit Alchi, situated at a distance of 68 Km from Leh. Alchi monastery was built by great Lama Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo (The great translator) 1000 years ago and is considered to be the most famous and largest among the entire monastery built by him. After the visit, continue drive to Lamayuru which is 58km from Alchi. Lamayuru monastery was constructed by Arahat Nimagung in between 10th and 11th century. History says that in the 11th century the Mahasidha Naropa visited this place and the cave where he resided and meditated is still to be seen inside the monastery. After the visit continue your journey to Kanji, still 40 km drives. Arrive Kanji, overnight at camp in Kanji village.(3850m)

Day 02: Trek Kanji – Kanji Dok (3/4hrs)
Morning after breakfast, you explore the village and attract with the innocent villagers. After that you start your first day trek with easy trek along the right side of upstream river. After the easy walk for 2hrs, you have gentle ascent and then you arrive at small hamlet where you find the campsite. The view of the valley and its stunning mountains from here is indescribable. Enjoy the scenic beauty of nature of Himalayan Mountains. Overnight at camp. (4100m)

Day 03: Trek Kanji Dok – Yogma-la (4720m) – Shillakong (5/6 hrs)
Leave camp after breakfast. While enjoying the morning sunshine you ascend towards the Yogma-la (4720m) right from the camp. From the top of the pass you have spectacular view of landscape. After enjoying few minutes at the top you have gentle descent and then you arrive at the camp. (4300m)

Day 04: Trek Shillakong – Nigutse-la (5100m) - Urtsi Dok (5/6hrs)
Morning after the breakfast, continue the trek by following the well-defined and clear trek route on the left bank of the river. En-route amazing and beautiful landscape. After few hours of trek, you reach at the top of the Nigutse-la (5100m). At the top of the pass, you will find yourself top of the world and get the stunning and enchanting view of unforgettable landscape with different mountains of Himalayan range. Cross the pass and then descend in beautiful lost valley opening on an immense plain where you find many animals like sheep, goats and yaks etc. Overnight in Camp. (4500m)

Day 05: Trek Urtsi Dok – Sirsir-la (4805m) – Photoksar (4/5 hrs)
Today you have to cross the river so it is advisable to carry some extra stock in your bag so that you may not get wet. As usual after breakfast, continue the trek with ascending the ridge right from the camping. Follow the clear path on rolling ridge and from here you see the Sirsir-la pass. Descend down in towards the river below. Cross the river and then start ascending straight towards the pass Sirsirla(4805m). Enjoy the view of wonderful valleys and its landscape. Gentle and easy descend by following the good trek path to Photoksar (A remote isolated charming village). Evening explore the village. Campsite before the village near the river. Overnight at Camp. (4210m)

Days 06: Trek Photoksar – Boumitse-la (4200m) – Base of Singey-la (7 hrs)
Today you cross easy pass. Right from the camp, while enjoying the spectacular landscape, start ascend for few meters and continue along with clear and well define path. Carry on ascending up towards the top of Boumiktse-la. From the top of the pass, you directly see the Singela Pass and enchanting panoramic view of rolling plateau and mountains. Until the base of Singe-la, you cross few small streams so it is advised to carry extra shoes in your bag so that you may not get wet. Good campsite with beautiful and wonderful view. Overnight at camp. (4400m)

Days 07: Trek Base of Singe-la – Singe-la (4960m) – Kyukpa-la (3850m) – Skyumpatta.
Right from the camp, start ascending up to top of Singe-la. It is easy to ascend but 1200m before the top, it is steep ascend in zigzag. From the pass, the route descends steeply to a loose boulder strewn area. This is called Champado Gongma. Continue along the right side of the valley, clear path up to village Skyumpatta. Beautiful and awesome view of landscape of the valley. Follow the beaten track to the Kyukpa-la Pass (3850m), easy ascend. Easy descend from the pass about 300m. and cross a clear water stream. Camp near of above the stream. Overnight: Camp at Skyumpatta village. (4000m)

Days 08: Trek Skyumpatta – Lingshed – Hanamu-la Base (7 ½ hrs)
From Skyumpatta follow the trail and start ascending the Netuksila pass. It is a long ascent and advice to carry enough water as you could not find water until the camp. From the pass again follow the well-defined route to Lingshed. Visit the Lingshet monastery which is very interesting with the old statues. Lingshed monastery is constructed on the top of hill by Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo (the translator). The deity can be viewed once in a year 15th day of 4th Tibetan month. After visit Lingshed, continue towards the Hanamu-la Base by crossing the small bridge. Pass the village by ascending along the right side. Overnight at camp. (4000m)

Days 09: Trek Hanamu-La Base – Hanamu-La (4700m) – Zingchen (7 ½ hrs.)
Morning after breakfast, continue trek climbing the pass right from the camp. The pass looks difficult and steep but slowly and steadily along the zigzag path it seems easy. While following and enjoying the panoramic view of landscape and wonderful mountain, you arrive at the top of the pass. From the top of the pass, enjoy spectacular and enthralling view of landscape. Cross the pass and easy and gentle descend till you reach at Zingchen. Overnight at Camp. (3410m)

Days 10: Zingchen – Parfila (3900m) – Hanamur village (6 hrs)
Morning after breakfast, continue trek along the upstream of the river up to the Stupa from where you gently climb up to the Parfila pass. Cross the pass and gently descend down. From this point you see the magnificent and enchanting view of Landscape and view of the Zanskar River on left side below. The camp is, about more than one hour ahead, in the tree grove of Hanamur village. Overnight at camp. (3410m) Days 14: Trek Hanamur –Zangla (6-7 hrs)
As usual after breakfast, continue tek along the bank of left side of the Zanskar till village Pidmo. En-route you pass by few small villages like Pidmo and on the opposite side is village Zangla .The camp at Pishu is below the village on the grassy meadow near the bank of the Zanskar river. Overnight at camp (3430m)

Day 11: Drive Zangla – Karsha – Stongde – Shilla
Today you have full day culture tour around Padum by drive. Morning after breakfast, drive to Stongde village. Visit beautiful picturesque monastery built on hill top by Lama Marpa 950 years ago.Approximately 60 monks are residing in this monastery. After the visit, continue drive to Karsha (Pair of White i.e., Outer white and Inner white). Visit Karsha monastery. This monastery is the largest of all the monastery in Zanskar and this monastery (Gonpa) was first founded by Great Lama Phagspa Shesrap (the translator of Zanskar). From the monastery, you have amazing and spectacular view of the capital of zanskar (Padum) and its surrounding mountains. After visiting the monastery, if time permits then you visit the capital of Zanskar (Padum). Explore Padum and visit the Market after then continue drive to Shilla. Overnight at Camp in Shilla village. (3610m)

Days 12: Trek Shilla - Raru (5/6 hrs)
After breakfast, continue trek along left bank of river till Muni. En route visits Bardan monastery. Continue the journey along left bank till we reach at Bridge. Cross the river and continue along the right bank of the River up to Raru village. Overnight at Camp. (3770m)

Days 13: Trek Raru – Kalbock (6 ½ hrs)
After breakfast, continue trek by crossing river over Bridge at Raru village. Well define ancient trek path with amazing and spectacular view of landscape. You arrive at small charming village. Pass the village and then cross the river towards right over a long wooden bridge. Continue along the bank of river up to Tsetang. After one hour reach Pipula where you find a Tea Shop. Refresh yourself and then continue with gentle climb till you reach Kalbok. Overnight at Camp before houses. (3850m)

Days 14: Trek Kalbock – Purney (4/5 Hrs)
After breakfast, Leave camp and continue along left side of River below. Continue trek along the left side of the river till you reach near a bridge, cross the bridge and after ten few minutes you arrive at Purney village, a beautiful and charming village with few houses. Have Lunch at Purney and enjoy the beauty of nature. Overnight at camp in Purney.(3850m).

Day 15: Trek Purney – Phugtal – Purney ( 5/6 hrs)
Morning after breakfast,Follow the clear trek route and continue up along the left bank of River Tsarap for more than ½ hrs. Today you come across and pass through beautiful gorge. Continue up in the gorge and you find bridge. Cross the bridge then gentle ascent from where you see the Pukhtak monastery. The picturesque monastery wonderfully built on the rock cliff with a large Cave (Natural big Cave), by great Lama Changsem Sherap Zangpo. After the visit, trek back to Purney. Overnight Camp in Purney.(3850 m)

Day 16: Trek Purney – Kargyak (7/8 hrs)
Morning after breakfast, continue back towards the bridge, after crossing the bidge, gentle climb up till you reach Yal village. Continue trek along the right side of the valley. On the way, you pass through beautiful and charming villages with wonderful landscape and its surrounding awesome mountains. Pass Tetsa village, Kuru village and continue along left bank of river till you cross a bridge.Cross the river and then continue along the right bank of river till Kargyak Village. (Last Zanskar village on this trek) Overnight at camp in Kargyak.(4180m)

Days 17: Trek Kargyak – Pankeya (5/6 hrs)
Continue along right bank of river for ½ hrs till we reach Gombo Ranjon. Keep on trek till we cross the stream towards Tea shop. Climb for 25 minutes then continue up till you reach Camp. Overnight at Pankeya (4510m)

Days 18: Trek Pankeya – Shingo-la (5090m) – Zanskar Sumdo (7/8 hrs)
Today you have to cross water stream several times so it is advisable to carry extra slipper in your bag so that you may not get wet. From the camp, moderate climb up to the Shingola Pass (5090m.) and it takes about three hours to reach at the top of the pass Shingo-la (5080m).shingo-la is last pass of your trek and from the top of the pass beautiful and awesome panoramic view of landscape and mountain peaks. Cross the pass,then easy descent,several times small River crossing , till you reach Zanskar Sumdu for overnight Camp.(4100m)

Days 19: Trek Zanskar Sumdo – Pal-Lhamo (5/6 Hrs)
Today you have easy trek on flat terrain. As usual morning after breakfast, you cross small river and then continue trek along the right bank of the river till you reach Palamo. Beautiful camping site with clean water. Overnight at camp.(3650m)

Days 20: Trek Pal-Lhamo – Rarik then drive to Manali (135 km)
Continue along the road, cross the river over bridge then carry on trek till we reach Rarik. At Rarik village, Jeeps will be waiting for you take to Manali. Arrive Rarik then drive to Manali. Overnight at Hotel.
